A boozy mini golf course is coming to KC this summer

An opportunity for adults to drink and play like kids is coming to Power & Light this summer. Swell Spark, the local company that operates Breakout KC escape room and Blade & Timber Axe Throwing, is opening KC’s first mini golf bar, Sinkers Lounge.

The bar will boast a nine-hole indoor mini golf course and nine tabletop golf holes—which they say is like a marriage of golf and shuffleboard.

Swell Spark first cut their teeth in the food and entertainment industry with the opening of their hyped-up axe-throwing lounge, Blade & Timber. Within the last five years, the company has become well-established in Kansas City with two Breakout KC escape rooms and two Blade & Timber locations. The company has also expanded its reaches to Wichita, Nebraska, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii.

Sinkers will be a new concept for Swell Spark, but CEO Matt Baysinger says the idea of an adults-only mini golf course is not completely out of the blue. “Mini golf has been under our nose for years,” Baysinger says. “Our goal is to gather people for shared experiences.”

Baysinger says that for many people, mini golf is nostalgic, and this bar provides people the opportunity to enjoy one of their favorite childhood activities in a lively, adult environment.

Sinkers Lounge is set to open by late July. Once the bar opens, patrons can reserve a tee time online or they can simply walk in and enjoy a cocktail.
