Account Executive/MultiMedia

Sales Associate/Office Coordinator

Kansas City’s premier news and lifestyle magazine is looking to grow its tightknit team by adding a sales associate/office coordinator.

This hybrid position is for an entry-level employee who will help our team streamline workflow while also offering an opportunity to make sales and collect a commission. The position will sit at our front desk, where we receive one or two visitors and roughly a dozen phone calls per day.

Duties will include:

-Working with existing advertisers and subscribers to troubleshoot problems with payments, subscriptions and the like. Most of these issues come in through phone calls or emails to the office and involve simple solutions such as adding someone to a database or taking a credit card number down by phone. These tasks might involve an hour or two per day.

-Contacting potential advertisers via email and phone calls. Most of these sales contacts will be targeting potential clients for themed special sections where they’re a good fit. The associate will receive sales training from our publisher with the goal of eventually transitioning into a full-time senior account executive with their own book of business. This will be about half the day.

-Developing prospect lists of potential advertisers. The associate will work with the publisher to divvy up the prospects on these lists. This will be an hour or two per day.

-Other assorted minor office tasks such as opening mail, mailing out copies of the magazine to sources who request them, filing tax forms from freelance contributors, etc.

-Base compensation is $12.50 an hour, plus commission calculated as a percentage of sales above the base. It is our expectation that within six months the total compensation will be at least double the base pay.

To be considered for this position please email your resume and a note introducing yourself to editor@kansascitymag.com.
