Get your food delivered by miniature train at this KC diner

Eats and Postmates, Kansas City had Fritz’s Railroad Restaurant (fritzskc.com). Customers use a novelty phone on their table to order and then find their bacon cheeseburger rolling toward them on miniature rail lines at walking speed. The food is then lowered onto the table. (Drinks and shakes are delivered separately to avoid spillage.)

Owner Fritz Kropf designed the food delivery system in a basement about 60 years ago during a labor shortage. The original design looked more like a shuttle than a train, but most customers began calling it a train, and Fritz eventually embraced it with custom-built colorful trains that blow a whistle during the delivery process.

The Fritz’s trains are unique and will likely stay that way: Kropf keeps the specifics of his design secret to avoid copycats.
