Love in Bloom

Bride & Groom

Getting married outdoors in the spring is not for the faint of heart. You have to have a whole lot of trust that Mother Nature isn’t going to wreak havoc on your special day. But not even two weeks of rain preceding the wedding could dampen the spirits of Loren Littrell and Alex Finck. This couple had faith that everything would be perfect, and it was.

Both bride and groom were thrilled to get married at the Finck family farm in central Missouri and they were equally adamant that nature play a starring role in the wedding. Their ceremony took place in a woodland wonderland rich with barely budding trees and an overcast sky that infused the whole ceremony with an ethereal feel.

The reception continued to pay homage to nature where an indoor garden was created inside a palatial tent. Rows of planter boxes were filled with blooms of spring bulbs. Hyacinth, daffodils and tulips graced the tables in an ode to spring. The ceiling, draped in khaki broadcloth panels, was illuminated by handmade “chandeliers” of cattle pen fencing, Edison bulbs and English ivy.

The mother of the groom, Charlene Finck, says the inside of the tent took everyone’s breath away. Even better both the bride and the groom had never gotten a sneak peek inside the tent and the groom’s mother says they were blown away.

“Our favorite part of the evening’s celebration was the private reveal of the festive tent poised for cocktails, dinner and dancing,” Finck shares. “We loved seeing Loren’s over-flowing joy as she exclaimed, ‘it’s a palace in a tent!’ That beautiful moment was quickly followed by our son saying, ‘Is this for us? This is amazing; we can’t thank you enough.’”

The wedding menu was a farm-to-market theme and afterwards guests enjoyed dessert in an outdoor café setting where sweets were delivered by a “walking cake stand.”

One of the highlights of the wedding was when guest were asked to step outside the tent and into a meadow and then were surprised with a 25-minute fireworks display.

“It was a great night at the farm,” says Jonathan Finck, father of the groom. “We had a ball!”

The newlyweds wholeheartedly agree.
