Mission hosts first-ever Restaurant Week to help aid local restaurants during the pandemic
The coronavirus pandemic has made things tough for restaurants—follow capacity caps and social distancing mandates have hit, along with economic uncertainty and some diners who don’t go out.
Mission’s Business District has announced plans to help draw attention and customers to city with its first-ever restaurant week, happening in early March.

Mission Restaurant Weekw ill run from March first through seventh. Similar to Kansas City Restaurant Week that happens each January, restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops and breweries participate by having various specials to encourage community business support.
“This event will focus on helping mom and pop shops in Mission stay afloat,” TJ Roberts, an insurance agent at downtown Mission’s Farm Bureau and vice president of the Mission Business District, tells the Shawnee Mission Post. “Mission is a very unique place in Kansas City, it’s like a small-town feel in a big city,” Roberts says. “We want to try to capture a lot of the greatness in some of these small businesses.”
