One Dress, Three Ways
We all have at least one item in our closet that we pair with the same things time and time again. This ritual becomes something familiar, the “comfort zone” in our wardrobes, if you will. Here is where I come in, showing you how to wear your favorite items in a whole new way. On the agenda today: one dress plus three ways equally fabulous ways to wear it.
The Dress: Striped Linen-Blend Shift Dress by Banana Republic, $130.
This dress is made of a linen blend making the fabric lightweight yet still giving it a thick, almost textured, look. This makes it perfect for summer, yet an easy transition piece into cooler weather. It is a semi-casual fabric made into a more formal sheath dress silhouette. Making it even more fabulous, is an adorable cut out on the back with smooth gold buttons and a sleek gilded zipper.
Casual does not mean you can’t dress charming. The key to dressing this look down is to pair it with fabrics that have a casual feel, such as denim, washed military fabric or even a trench. In order to keep the look fun, don’t forget to accessorize, mixing a few bold colors will keep the look laid-back while being ever so chic.
Whether you are going out with the girls or on a date with the hubby, this look is a showstopper. Playful patterns and colors make this look feel sexy. The lively cheetah-print heels are perfect pair for the matching tones in the jewelry, which keep the look classic. Finish it off with a large black clutch, which is always in style, and you are ready to impress.
The key to the elegance in this look is playing with a monochromatic palate. The crisp white colors pop against the gold accent color because of the different textures and finishes used. The slight texture in the dress pairs great with the silky smooth fabric of the cape, which is so stylish and unique. Then, to accent it all is the high shine of the hard box clutch. The metallic factor of the shoes and jewelry take this look up to the next level.
Remember to have fun when styling your next outfit. Play with the items you have stored away in your wardrobe and pair them with something new, mix colors and patterns, and even casual with formal. Fashion doesn’t have to be serious, and as far as I am concerned there are no rules as long as you love the look you’re in.
