This Taylor Swift-themed wedding staged by a KC event planner is everything

Renowned musician Taylor Swift gave fans, or “Swifties,” the inside scoop on her reinvented self with two spark-filled albums in the latter half of 2020. Swift, having created a first dance-perfect sound with her most recent folk-style albums Folklore and Evermore, wiggled her way into households with slow, mystical jams like “Willow”, “Champagne Problems” and “Cardigan”.

After Covid-19, forced the wedding season to a halt, event curators in Kansas City have been gotten even more creative to ensure that they’ll come back next wedding season stronger than ever. With inspiration from the earthy feel of Folklore and Evermore, the artists behind Dana Ashley Events, owned by Dana Bacaling, created a fanciful combination of the rustic and moody elegance behind the two chart-topping albums. The staged wedding shoot took place at The Everly (210 W. 19 Terrace Ste 100, KCMO), where visions of soft pink tones paired with deep red accents and off-white, tan and brown honed in on Swift’s naturally acoustic sounds and folksy album covers.

In a press release, Bacaling described the artistry as “underlying sophistication and special attention to detail harkened back to lyrics within the albums.” This attention to detail can be seen in the place settings, the save-the-dates, the cake by Clever Cakes and, of course, the giant “Evermore” marquee featured in the reception space.

Bacaling has planned over 300 weddings since her business’ start in 2019. With a strong social media presence from all of the creatives, photos by Mon Photography of the Swift-motivated event have begun to circulate, fueling inspiration in budding brides and bringing attention to small businesses all over Kansas City.
