Yesteryear EMS

Built in 1870, General Hospital was Kansas City’s first hospital and the forerunner to Truman Medical Center. In this 1952 snapshot, two ambulances are parked near the garages that served the medical facility. Two unidentified attendants are pictured alongside the Ford V-8 model ambulances, which were considered state-of-the-art vehicles at the time.
